International Balloon Festival (January)

In the end of January enjoy 8 colourful days of hot air balloons from 20 different countries. Balloons of all kinds float over the snowy peaks of the Alps. It is a spectacular event to behold.

Basel Fasnacht (March)

This is a very old tradition where locals gather around 4am in the cold to start a three day carnival. Carnival participants wear masks and colourful disguises and march in parades accompanied by orchestras.

Ascona Music Festival (May-June)

This is a prestigious festival that has chamber music from internationally renowned artists.

Eidgenössisches Jodelfest (June)

The yodel is probably the most Swiss of sounds. At this festival you can bear witness to this ancient art form as yodellers perform over a couple of days.
