Sapporo Lilac Festival (May)

The Sapporo Festival began in 1959 and is the celebrate the lilac, which is the tree of Sapporo. The festival is also a celebration of the end of winter and the start of warmer times.

Sapporo Autumn Festival (September to October)

The main venue for Sapporo Autumn Fest is Odori Park. Booths with popular food items from all over Hokkaido are served can be found there. This is a festival that celebrates the food of the region and is a great place to get a taste of everything in the local area.

Sapporo White Illumination Festival (November to December)

There are many illumination events in in Japan but it was Sapporo that originally started it in 1981. There are many light displays across the city that one can enjoy.
