Oji Kitsune-no-gyoretsu Fox Parade (December)
From the last day of December overnight to New Year's Day, people gather in the city to celebrate the legend of foxes disguising themselves as humans to visit the Oji Inari-jinja Shrine. Every year the Tokyo community makes a huge effort to keep old traditions alive, with shrine-goers lining the streets holding chochin lanterns that represent the light of life and hope.
New Year's Eve (December)
As a huge tourist and commerce hub in Asia, the city plays holds to extravagant New Year's Eve celebrations. There's plenty to experience, from traditional Japanese performing arts, fireworks, food and raffles given out in the streets.
