Events in Tunis

Most annual events in Tunisia focus on music and performing arts across a range of traditional styles and genres to contemporary world performers.
Yasmine Hammamet Festival
This event takes place an hour's drive south of the city in the town of Hammamet but is well worth making the journey to should you be in the country when it takes place on the 12th July each year. It is an arts event that celebrates the work of local poets, writers and artists.
International Festival of Carthage
This awe inspiring music event takes place in the ruins themselves with the main shows performed in the amphitheatre. It attracts visitors from the world over with big musical names performing every year. This festival takes place over July and August and features performance art such as opera, ballet and dance as well as music.
La Marsa Nights
During the summer months, normally from July - August, this is another music and arts event that takes place in the evenings at this popular coastal resort. Performances tend to feature traditional and local music and culture.
The Festival of Carthage-Byrsa
Also held at Carthage but from mid-July to mid-September is this cultural festival that features traditional dance, music and horse-riding.
Festival of the Medina
This celebratory festival takes place during Ramadan in the medina area of Tunis. Locals come out in droves to experience storytelling, dance, music and other performances at venues such as the National Theatre.
