Summer Fireworks Festivals in Japan

Illumination in the night sky

One of the highlights of planning a trip to Japan in the summer is to see the beautiful lit night sky during one of the Hanabi Taikai ( or firework festivals) held throughout Japan during the months of July and August, including the famous fireworks seen at the Nagaoka Matsuri (Festival) in Niigata Prefecture.

The festival is held during August 1-3, 2017 (fireworks display during August 2-3). Go enjoy the local food delicacies sold at the nearby 'yatai' or food stalls and enjoy the famous long-scale fireworks display, including various kinds of big and small 'sanshakudama' fireworks, from waterfall and volcanoes fireworks, beautifully lit and painting the night sky.
